For the scientist, reading everything is an unrealistic goal, but reading widely is essential, particularly in interdisciplinary endeavors such as translational medicine. For a journal whose mission is to feature the best translational science on a wide range of subjects and make it accessible to a broad audience, creative measures-and people-are crucial.Science Translational Medicine is pleased to introduce 16 of our secret weapons-our 2011 Associate Scientific Advisors (http:// stm.sciencemag.org/site/about/assoc_ advisors.xhtml). Each week, a subset of this talented group of variously trained early-career translational scientists will scan a bevy of scientific journals and select and summarize research papers for our Editors' Choice section. Written in an informal and lively style, Editors' Choice pieces can be easily absorbed by readers who are uninitiated in the subject matter. Each Associate Scientific Advisor will publish 10 to 12 Editors' Choice articles in Science Translational Medicine over the coming year.
