Swedish miner LKAB is seeing goodcontract demand for iron ore pellets globally,and future uncertainty on production volumeshas been clarified by this month’s localgovernment accord, as the group strives tocut costs.LKAB said it agreed to pay SEK 2.1 billion($227 million) compensation to allow for therelocation of a local community disrupted bythe Malmberget iron ore mine, and this accordwill allow supplies to continue from the keyarea. Details are yet to be drawn up. Withoutthe local accord, pellet volumes may have beenhit starting mid-2017.
