FRACING AND THE COURTS

Hydraulic fracturing or "tracing" is the injection of highly pressurized fluids into shale or other nonporous formations to facilitate the production of oil and natural gas. Although the process has been in use for decades, in recent years it has become highly controversial. And today, the oil and gas industry awaits the outcome of various congressional, regulatory and legal initiatives.
