Amines containing an α-trifluoromethyl substituent constitute an important class of biologically active compounds. In particular, such a fragment is similar in biological properties to an amide fragment.Replacement of the oxo fragment in a peptide drug by a trifluoromethyl group and a hydrogen atom can substantially enhance its therapeutic effect.
