We have read with great interest the report by Cornut et al.1 In the conclusion, the authors note that the baseline features of acute endophthalmitis after cataract surgery in the era of phacoemulsification are similar to those reported in the Endophthalmitis Vit-rectomy Study (EVS). In fact, microbiological patterns reported by the EVS in the mid-1990s are similar to those found in this study. However, it is veiy interesting to compare the time of presentation and what the authors define mainly as "Delay of onset" (between the surgery and the first symptoms of endophthalmitis).
