A 32-year-old man presented with a 1-day history of sudden decreased vision in his left eye. He had been diagnosed with viral keratitis 1 week previously and was started on antiviral drops. He also received a retrobulbar injection of gentamicin, 20,000 ig, on the possibility that the keratitis was bacteria! in nature. He immediately felt severe pain and vision decreased in his left eye. He was referred to our hospital 1 day after the injection.Examination showed visual acuity was 20/20 in the right eye and counting finger in the left eye. The visual acuity had been 20/20 in the left eye before injection.
