On November 7, U.S. Senator Bernard Sanders (D-VT) re-leased a statement lauding the State Department InspectorGeneral for responding favorably to his request to undertakea special review of the Keystone XL Pipeline Permit Process.In response to an October 26 request by Sanders and 13other congressional members, the Office of Inspector General(OIG) wrote November 4 that it was initiating a special reviewof the Department of State’s handling of the EnvironmentalImpact Statement and National Interest Determination ofTransCanada Corporation’s proposed Keystone XL pipeline.
