PRODUCTION POTENTIAL OF PERENNIAL FORAGES UNDER HORTIPASTORAL SYSTEM IN THE HILLS OF KUMAON

摘要

The field trials on farmer's fields were conducted between the altitude ranging from 1700 to 1800 metre from mean sea level under rainfed condition of Kumaon hills to study the production potential of two perennial forage legumes (Lucerne and Red clover) and two perennial grasses (Rye grass and orchard grass) grown in apple orchards. Herbage production of grass was more than legume but legumes recorde d higher crude protein content.
