The Canadian Species at Risk Act - A Primer on Industry Implications

Just when you thought the aquaculture industry had enough legal hoops and hurdles, along comes the Canadian government's Species at Risk Act Known as "SARA," the general purpose of this legislation is to prevent endangered and threatened wildlife frombecoming extinct, and to help in the recovery of species through the protection of critical habitat. Although this is certainly a righteous cause, industry should be aware there exists a danger that SARA may be used inappropriately and with intent to harm the aquaculture industry.
