摘要

One of the most pleasant days we experienced last August was a visit to the Landis Valley Museum located near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This hidden treasure is a wonderful, unique living history museum, which is a tribute to the many Pennsylvania Germans who settled and farmed this area. The museum was the initiative of founders, George and Henry Landis, and was established on the Landis family farmstead. The Landis family had been in the Valley for many years and the area was a crossroads village forseveral major thoroughfares during the 1800s. The brothers collected countless items, and especially objects that related to Pennsylvania Germans' culture, history, and heritage. They filled the homes, barns, and buildings on the farmstead with an assortment of possessions, and then built more buildings to house their collections.
