Back in 1946, the Occupational Therapy Research Group was established by the Occupational Therapy Club. This group encouraged occupational therapists to obtain, collate and disseminate information and record systems relevant to practice. First-generation Australian occupational therapists knew their techniques would be more effective, patients would have better recovery and their professional reputation would be stronger, if Occupational therapy was informed by and contributed to research.
