Graphene has been hailed as the wonder material that could bring about a whole new generation of photovoltaic devices for telecommunications and energy harvesting, but it suffers from one problem-low efficiency. Now researchers from the University of Cambridge and the University of Manchester have found a way to boost the efficiency of graphene-based photovoltaic devices by up to 20 times. This paves the way for future advances in high-speed internet development and other communications.
