Sue and Jeff Wesley's holiday home, with panoramic views over Mangawhai Heads, has been built on stylish contemporary lines. But it's still a beach retreat, complete with nautical touches and nostalgic nods to the Kiwi bach. "When we first bought an old cottage here about seven years ago Mangawhai was just a sleepy little place with lots of basic baches," says Sue. In the years since then, Mangawhai and the surrounding area - located about ninety minutes north of Auckland - has seen major changes. But when the Wesleys planned their new beach house they wanted to incorporate elements of the Mangawhai they remembered. They were also determined that it should feel like a beach house and not a city home in a beach setting.
