Nurses are the largest professional group delivering care in the NHS and are in the unique position of caring for patients throughout entire pathways of care. So it is a mystery why the nursjng voice often goes unheard, or is simply overlooked in many NHS organisations. A hierarchical, pyramid-based model is still in operation at many NHS trusts, where instruction, direction, strategy and ideas tend to flow downwards from senior teams rather than upwards from the workforce. How can we change this and improve staff engagement and satisfaction?
