When Tom Bostic first bought this 1980 AMC Jeep CJ7, almost 20 years ago, it looked very little like it does today The trusty jeep maintained its outward appearance for a good few years, while inside all manner of changes were taking place, including sound system and engine upgrades, Time takes its toll, and eventually Bostic was confronted with an aging Jeep with a rusty exterior, He felt it deserved one last rebuild The body came off and was replaced by a fiberglass body from AJ's, painted Hot Rod Red, and the suspension was replaced with a four-link system, fairly unique for its time Thus, a monster was born. It wasn't that easy, of course. Bostic put a lot of work and sweat into making the Jeep what it is today And yes, he did it all himself (with a little help from his friends, mostly in the paint department) The frame was smoothed and painted gloss black Front and rear shock towers were hand made, as were all motor and four-link mounts, Half-doors were cannibalized from a Jeep Wrangler, and rear doors were motorized to open gull wing-style. A custom-designed aluminum top and a veritable constellation of lights complete the exterior Inside, Bostic installed two Konig Jolt Pro racing seats and covered them in suede and Alante: He added red Schoth three-point racing harnesses, a B & M shifter, a Billet Specialties Psycho steering wheel, a chrome-plated steering column, Vintage Air air-conditioning system, Wilwood dual master cylinder brake pedal setup with a Lokar billet gas pedal assembly and cables, custom fiberglass gauge cluster, six Auto Meter gauges, and a polished stainless glove box door and grab handle.
