摘要

Publishers are moving things in-house and younger, less experienced photographers willing to work for less are creating an incredibly competitive market. Photographers are feeling the pressures of being expected to relinquish copyright over their work with some in the business lamenting the industry's shift from an emphasis on quality and creativity to the revered, mighty dollar. And what impact is this having on the quality of the work produced? As expected in our fast-paced high-tech world, one of the biggest trends within the editorial industry of late is its increased gearing to multimedia applications and for many photographers in the business, their work has evolved into a multi-media production. "I think what's happening more recently is that photographers are now shooting HD video as a component to still photography, which is something that is quite new," says Sydney-based freelance photographer Steve Brown. "Magazines are launching applications for iPads and iPhones and there is a whole lot of new demand for video footage."
