US May natural gas futures settled at a 21-month high on Friday, supported by lingering cold and another late-season withdrawal. Last week's three-session rally into the $4.20s added 20.50, or 5.1%, which more than offset an early week sag in the May contract that nonetheless held support above $4. "Prices are running away on Friday as two more weeks of winter temperatures ensure that the injection season will begin with a whimper," Gelber & Associates analyst Aaron Calder said in a note.
