In early October, trade has slackened in the Black Sea freight market. Exports ofmajor cargoes from the ports of Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania keepshrinking due to main buyers holding off big contracts and importing just small lotsin the spot market. The number of available coasters is growing, thereby enablingcharterers to knock shipping fees down. In a week, tariffs for transportation ofsome cargoes have lost $1/t on average. A 5,000-tonne batch of steel products iscurrently carried from Odessa to the Sea of Marmora ports at $19/t (down $0.5/t).
