Cargo handling totals 11.5 mt in Baltic ports in July; shipping of agricultural cargoes at their minimum, that of iron ore hits new high

In July, Baltic ports transshipped 11.5 mt of various cargoes in July, which approximates last month's figures. In Riga, handlingincreased by 475,000 t to 3.2 mt, while in Tallinn and Klaipeda it shrank by 250,000 t and 237,000 t, respectively. In Ventspils andLiepaja, the volume was rather steady.As a month before, the reduction was seen in bulk oil handling, that of agricultural cargoes plunged to the minimum. At the same time,transshipment of ferrous raw materials hit a new high; chemicals shipments fell just 20,000 t short of the peak recorded in May 2011 (1.63 mt).
