摘要

Introduction: Drug users are particularly exposed to the risk of HCV infection. At the same time, this is a difficult group to reach out with preventive measures. The aim of the study was recognition of respondents' needs for intervention to reduce hepatitis C virus infection, including the identification of preferences on the conditions of its implementation and execution. Method: Results are based on outcomes of 25 group interviews with drug users and professionals and 20 individual interviews with drug users. Analysis included systemic investigation to create the frame of analysis based on codes, which emerged from the material. In the second stage of analysis, selective coding was used to combine a priori categories drawn from research interests. Results: Respondents expressed their suggestions regarding the character of the planned intervention and the conditions for its implementation. They turned attention to the potential barriers that may hinder the use of preventive measures. Physical accessibility, providing a sense of security and anonymity, duration and nature of the intervention adjusted to conditions of implementation and repeatability and complexity of activities are key elements that can affect the success of the intervention. Discussion: So far, HCV was not sufficiently present in the preventive interventions addressed to drug users. There is a need to develop comprehensive, long-term preventive strategy that on the one hand will provide the necessary knowledge, and on the other, change drug users' attitudes to becoming more health oriented. Conclusions: The planned intervention should take into account the needs of HCV infected and non-infected drug users. The activities should be carried out cyclically.
