A new light green seed coated Azuki bean cultivar, 'Yeonkeum' with middle seed size and good seed quality.

Yeonkeum, a new adzuki bean (Vigna angularis) cultivar with light green seed coat was developed in Korea Republic in 2005. Yeonkeum was selected from the cross between cultivars Jajasodun and IT120990. Preliminary, advanced and regional yield trials for evaluation and selection of this cultivar were carried out from 2001 to 2005. Yeonkeum has a determinate growth habit, yellow flowers, green stems, black pods, light green seed coat, yellow cotyledon, drum seeds, oval leaves, middle seed size (12.0 grams per 100 seeds), and maturity that is 2 days earlier than the control cultivar Chungjupat. The cultivar is resistance to Adzuki bean mosaic virus. The average yield of Yeonkeum was 1.90 t/ha in regional yield trials carried out in 4 locations in the country from 2003 to 2005..
