More flood assistance available

Continued rainfall and rising floodwaters during January increased the number of 'declared disaster zones' already in place following December flood events. As a result, a number of upgrades were made to the assistance schemes available to flood-affected farmers. This article provides an update on what relief is available. Producers who suffered damage as a result of heavy rains during the week of December 15-21 2010 are eligible for a grant of up to 25,000 dolar for clean-up and immediate restoration costs. These measures come under the Western Australian Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangement (WANDRRA). The shires of Ashburton, Carnarvon, Exmouth, Murchison, Northampton, Shark Bay and Upper Gascoyne are all eligible to receive this grant.
