During the past year, this series of articles has aimed to demonstrate how to identify, avoid and treat potential mineral problems in Australian livestock. Selenium, vitamin E, cobalt, vitamin Bn, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, magnesium, iodine and copper deficiencies all cause lower production or even livestock losses in parts of Australia. The deficiencies have been associated with specific geographical zones; with times of increased requirements during the livestock production cycle or; with changes in plant growth and composition.
