摘要

Among the various in vitro alternatives developed for carcino-genicity prediction, the cell transformation assays (CTAs) have been shown to closely model some key stages of the in vivo carcinogen-esis process [1 ]. It also appears that in vitro CTAs can provide some critical evidence which is specific to the tumourigenic process that in vitro genotoxicity assays cannot provide. Moreover, the CTA is faster and more cost efficient than the m vivo rodent carcinogenic-ity assay, providing a useful approach for screening of chemicals with respect to their carcinogenic potential.
