Unsurprisingly, the current calendar year will likely bring a sharp y/y decline in global biodiesel demand. However, for 2016, we expect an increase in global biodiesel needs as several mandates rise. The low crude oil prices make biodiesel blending expensive under the mandates and mean the end for discretionary blending, a 2 mln tonne market in 2014. The 2016 projections do not foresee a comeback of this outlet, but they are based on higher demand in Southeast Asia and ongoing strong use in the United States.
