ETHANOL PRODUCTION DROPS DURING AUGUST MAINTENANCE PERIOD

Ethanol output in August dropped to a level not seen since January as a number of plants stopped operations for their annual maintenance period. The total during the month was no more than 74 mln litres against 111 mln in July and 87 mln in August 2014. This brought cumulative production in the first eight months to 742 mln litres against 690 mln during the same period a year earlier. Total output in 2014 was 1.076 bin litres against 1.052 bin in 2013.
