USDA SEES SLOWDOWN IN GROWTH OF CORN-BASED ETHANOL

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in its baseline projection expects an increase in corn use for fuel alcohol production 2009/10 (Sep/Aug) to 4.2 bln bushels, which compares with 3.6 bln in 2008/09. However, beyond that date, growth is forecast to slow with demand mirroring changes in gasoline consumption.
