Dow Jones reported that oil refiner Valero Energy Corp. is running six of its seven acquired ethanol plants. The seventh facility in Welcome, Minnesota is due to start production in July. The company has a total ethanol production capacity of 780 mln gallons per year. Silver Spring, Maryland-based Competitive Power Ventures Holdings LLC, a power industry development and asset management company, said it is to manage the 115 mln gallon Hereford Biofuels LP ethanol plant in Hereford, Texas. The plant has been bought in April by Ethanol Acquisition LLC, a group of lenders led by French banking major Societe Gener-ale from Panda Ethanol Inc. for a $25 mln credit bid in bankruptcy court.
