Fuel ethanol consumption by the refining industry in Germany in August 2011 was 142.7 mln litres. The Jan/Aug 2011 total is with 1.001 bin litres above the 969.7 mln achieved one year earlier. Despite the introduction of E-10 in the gasoline segment in late January 2011, the average fuel ethanol blending share in Jan/Aug 2011 amounted to a mere 6.1% vol. against 5.9% vol. one year earlier. The market share of E-10 in August 2011 was 10.5% and has been declining since March 2011. Out of 1.002 bin litres used in Jan/Aug 2011, 709 mln litres were for E-5, 136 mln for E-10, 145 mln for ETBE and 14 mln for E-85.
