5,000th Continuous Miner produced at Joy Mining Machinery's Franklin, PA Facility/Shenhua Shendong Coal Co. of Peoples Republic of China purchases High-Seam Miner

Joy Mining Machinery's Franklin manufacturing facility recently produced its 5,000th continuous miner and shipped it to Shenhua Shendong Coal Company, a division of Shenhua Group Corporation. The Joy 12CM15 high-seam continuous miner was one of four miners recently purchased by the Chinese company. Joy's first production continuous miner, the 3JCM was built in 1948 and weighed 18 tons. Since then, 85 different models designed to maximize production in varied geological conditions have been produced. One of the company's largest miners, the 12HM36, weighed 141 tons and was recently shipped to Winsford Rock Salt Mine in the United Kingdom.
