GE Transportation Celebrates 45 Years of Electric Drive Systems Leadership in Mining Trucks

GE Transportation, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) and global technology innovator in the mining industry, celebrates its proud 45year heritage as a leader in electric drive systems powering giant mining trucks in markets worldwide. GE's mining business showcased its product portfolio for Off Highway Vehicles (OHV) at MINExpo International 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Fueled by increased global demand for commodities like coal, iron ore and copper, mining equipment has been in high demand in emerging markets. GE Transportation provides electric drive systems for 120ton to 360ton mining trucks manufactured and in use from Brazil to Belarus and from China to Australia. Currently, more than 4,000 GE electric drive systems for OHV are in use in more than 35 countries worldwide.
