India's energy sector could well start expanding into Australia as it tries to secure its country's coal supplies for the next 25 years. The Indian Government has also been inviting Australian producers to look into the possibility of investing in its domestic coal industry. According to the country's largest coal miner -- the State-owned Coal India Ltd -- efforts are underway to enhance its energy sector through acquisitions. During the recent Asia Mining Conference in Singapore, Coal India's Nathuni Prasad said the company had created a wholly-owned subsidiary, Coal Videsh, as a "special purpose vehicle for foreign ventures".
