In fact the direct and indirect costs of tyres have escalated in recent times due to the combined factors of rapid mine expansions globally and critical shortages in global tyre supplies. Mining companies realise the impact of tyre life on driving value and are applying various methods to obtain improvements to tyre life. These methods can be summarised broadly into the following categories: Use of tyres with lowest total cost of ownership or best value. Implementation of effective tyre management processes. Use of tyre performance monitoring systems. Application of best-in-class tyre life extension technologies. Equipping Haul Truck Operators with skills that will help them maximise tyre life.
