Review helps set agenda

A geological model developed by Ballarat Goldflelds NL is already paying dividends for the company with the discovery of more high grade gold on the Sulieman Line target. The Victorian-based outfit company undertook a geological review in November 2002 of the ground holdings it had at the historic mining area of Ballarat. It also believes high recovery-low cost processing is likely at the project with the ore appearing suitable for coarse grinding and gravity concentration. Only a small portion of mill feed likely needed flotation and leaching. Ballarat said it achieved 98.4 percent gold recovery via simple gravity separation following initial metallurgical test work on a split from a 200 kilogram bulk sample of ore taken from a level access drive at the Woolshed Gully decline. The figure reached 99.3 percent recovery using gravity separation and flotation.
