摘要

LANSING, Mich.—The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality's Office of Geological Survey (OGS) has undergone a name change—to the Office of Oil, Gas, and Minerals (OOGM). The change is the result of a transfer of responsibilities for geologic mapping and resource evaluation to Western Michigan University (WMU), which is located in Kalamazoo, Mich. Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder signed Senate Bill 507 on Tuesday, Oct. 11,2011, formally accomplishing the transfer. The bill established a new Michigan Geological Survey in WMU's Geosciences Department, which necessitated the name change for the former OGS.
