Genotyping of Staphylococcus aureus strains among healthcare workers and patients in the tertiary referral Children's Medical Hospital in Tehran, Iran

摘要

Staphylococcus aureus is one of the main pathogens to cause infections in the hospital setting, and is associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. An important source of nosocomial staphylococcal infection is nasal carriage among hospital personnel. Carriers of S. aureus have an increased risk of infection by the strains they carry.There is a strong correlation between staphylococcal infection and its colonisation of the human nasal epithelium.
