ORR confirms oldest and newest passenger fleets

MERSEYRAIL HAS once again topped the annual Office of Rail and Road survey of passenger trains fleet for operating the oldest train fleet. Merseyrail services are operated by Class 507 and Class 508 EMUs built by British Rail between 1978 and 1980. The introduction of Class 777s will see them move towards the top of the table when the old trains are withdrawn.
