The present invention provides concept such that a light emanates from the side of the vehicle which projects a lit footpath for an approaching customer/owner. The system is capable of detecting an approaching customer/owner, tracking the customer as they approach, and projecting a footpath for them to walk up to the vehicle. This will light up the ground in front of the customer reducing the chance of stepping in a hole or puddle and reducing the likelihood of a trip hazard. This concept utilizes vehicle equipped PEPS (passive entry/passive start) system which is a proximity-based system that "wakes" the vehicle to an approaching customer. Once this system is awakened by the PEPS system, it will use BLE (low energy Bluetooth) technology and multiple antennas on the vehicle to triangulate where the customer is specifically. The vehicle will then project light onto the ground in front of the customer as they approach the vehicle. The PEPS is already part of the vehicle. The antennas would go on the roof and the light source shall be mounted in the outside rearview mirror.
