Ample supply and disappointing demand dampens European manganese alloy prices

Manganese alloy prices are poised for further declines in the near term due to muted demand from domestic steelmakers across Europe. Spot European high-carbon ferro-manganese 78% grade material is trading at 710-750 euros/tonne delivered, down from 720-750 euros/tonne last month. Medium-carbon ferro-manganese prices are unchanged at 1,150-1,170 euros/tonne delivered, with refined ferro-manganese prices taring better on tighter availability. European silico-manganese prices remain subdued against tepid demand from the steel sector, with prices vulnerable to further losses as buying interest in the spot market looks muted through the rest of this quarter. Prices are holding at 800-850 euros/tonne in-warehouse.
