Ferro-silicon highlights

Chinese ferro-silicon exporters are struggling with low profits and appreciation of the renminbi, which is locking both export and domestic prices. Utilisation rates are running at only half of Chinese ferro-silicon rated production capacity due to the weak economy and slow steel sector demand. Chinese ferro-silicon production increased in September as some steel mill production capacity returned after a period of plant maintenance.
