Wesfarmers blesses its coal

Wesfarmers continued to profit from the large Curragh coal mine in Queensland, which continues to power earnings of its coal division, which also include the Collie coal mine in Western Australia. The company does not break out the earnings of its coal division, although it did state its energy division posted year to June revenues of 1.1bn Australia dollars - 725m dollars - (up from 963m Australia dollars), with earning before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of 339.6m Australia dollars up from 236.9m Australia dollars. Separately, Wesfarmers booked an 80m Australia dollars profit from the sale of the Girrah coal deposit in Queensland.
