Following on from the previous month, prices at first stabilised in May on stronger demand and supply concerns emanating from the Americas. As fears grew about slower than expected global economic growth, however, buyers pulled away and set into an early summer lull. Moreover, their current long-term supply contracts are affording them their market abstention. Spot sellers are thus becoming increasingly concerned and suspect contracted material supply will exceed consumer requirements for a good while longer.
