New ideas and methods are needed when a customer requests something to be made or repaired that is out of the ordinary. Such was the case when a lady came in with her grandfather's broken oil lamp. She remembered that he used the lamp to light the way to the barn to feed the animals. Most oil lamps that I have seen are one piece and have glass globes that slide in and out. This oil lamp was originally made with a threaded glass globe that screwed into the brass base and brass top to hold everything together. The threaded glass globe was broken beyond repair. So, how do we make a new globe that will thread into the brass top and bottom? In this case, the lamp was only 8 inches tall so weight was not an issue.
