In the competitive global aerospace industry, Lincoln-based Alstom Aerospace maintains a notable presence in the aero jet engine field with a combination of advanced design and high-tech manufacturing excellence. The latter includes the use of laser-based tool-setting equipment - from Blum Novotest Ltd, Lichfield (Tel: 01543 257111) - on Hermie five-axis machining centres that are used to produce highly complex jet engine components. One area of expertise for which the Lincoln plant is renowned is the production of rotating components for what are known in the aerospace jet engine business as 'cold end' assemblies.
