Farmers' markets enjoying 'rebirth'

Numbers have grown to 130 from 60 since '88 Ontario is leading the resur-gence of farmers' markets across North America. Bob Chorney, executive director of Farmers' Markets Ontario, has been working for the past several years to boost the growth of the industry. "There's been a very dramatic rebirth of farmers' markets," he explained, following his presentation at the 46th annual Essex County Associated Growers convention and trade show in Leamington, Ontario. In 1988, there were 60 farmers' marketsin Ontario; by 1995, their numbers had risen to 130.
