'Costing about the same as a used quad bike, the Hippo offers cost-effective, all-round mobility without draining your resources'. With this promise, a Nairnbased team - Gavin Mackay, Manochehr Salek and Russell Savage trading as Ecorider Ltd - bringto the forestry industry their answer to the twin needs of genral off-road access and mobility - not forgelting the equally important practical, environmental and economic considerations. The two-wheel 'Hippo' workhorse is based on their joint twenty-years-plus experience in the design and development of low ground pressure vehicles coupled with an intimate knowledge of market requirements. The result - a truly 'unique product' - a 'breath of fresh air' from the Highlands. Having spent the last four years in developing the concept to its present commercial status, they introduced it to the public at the Highland Show in June where, they report, it received a very positive response. Encouraged by this, they decided to go into production.
