Conservation at local level

'People who care enough to take action and make a difference are at the heart of our work. We want to help bring woodland closer to people in their own neighbourhoods'. Mike Townsend, chief executive of the Woodland Trust was speaking at a recent conference held by the Trust to celebrate the invaluable work of the 'Community Woodland Network' to conserve local woods. Over 154 people from community woodland groups all over England met at Oxstalls Campus, Gloucestershire University over two days in July to share their experiences of managing and conserving local woods.
