Neil Black's introduction to the firewood processing industry goes back some 15 years when, as a sheep farmer with 1200 breeding ewes he helped his neighbour Willie Lain split and deliver logs. Six years later, when Willie had had his fill of logs, Neil was left to gather stock and stoke-up the business. Neil was quick to recognise that firewood was his way forward and his change of tack coincided with his wife Bridget establishing a garden nursery at their home near Aberfeldy. He cut back on the farming side of his business and reduced his flock to just 12 ewes that are now keeping the 16 acres of land surrounding his house in good order.
