Less wheat, high coarse grains, and bumper oilseed crops forecasted

The monthly forecast of world feedstuff production by the United States Department of Agriculture projects lower wheat production and stocks, higher coarse grain production, but lower stocks, and record oilseed production for 2001/02 season. World trade and price policies for important feed crops are always an interesting subject for speculation. The US Department of Agriculture gives out monthly projections for these commodities. The USDA's projections of world crop production and stocks are basedon economic analysis, normal weather, trends, and judgment. Because planting of spring crops is still underway in the Northern Hemisphere and remains several months away in the Southern Hemisphere, these projections are highly tentative. Substantial variation may result from weather developments, economic factors, and policy changes.
