Designing and Fabrication of a Semi-motorized Rice Transplanter

We developed a semi-motorized rice transplanter, using a six-row manual rice transplanter which is presently available in Sri Lanka. 2 kW, 2-cycle petrol engine was set on the transplanter as the prime mover for planting device. It showed a satisfactory performance during field test and we observed that planting accuracy was improved from 34% to 2.3% of missing hills by modification of seedling mat feeding plates, seedling tray rest plates, etc.
